A battle-tested Maxim Hinkamp declared war on opposing pitchers last week, attacking the ball like the well-schooled veteran he is. Today the 36-year-old Brussels right fielder collected the European League Player of the Week Award.
He wrapped up the week with a .536 average, 15 hits in 28 at-bats, 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and 9 runs scored.

In the Painters 4-1 win over Madrid, Kiril van Alpen was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Rebels Ballpark.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this was a special once-in-a-lifetime chance for the record book. On the last hit, I was ready to swing at anything close, I was that excited. That's why my third base coach called time and told me, 'Calm down and wait for a good pitch.' That got me back on track and I nailed the first one in the strike zone."
On his record-setting day van Alpen delivered 5 hits in 6 at-bats, a day he will not soon forget.
K. van Alpen grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, tripled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, doubled in the 10th and hit a two-run home run off H. Morales in the 11th.
