Monday, August 30th, 1920: Díaz Befuddles Sydney
On the hill Carlos Díaz stood out and was the master of the moment as he blanked Sydney 13-0.

At bat the Outback floundered, fizzled and failed to score.

"His fastball moves and he mixes in the slider," the Sydney manager said. "He kept us off-balance."

The Mexico City pitcher hurled a 6-hit shutout in an exceptional effort. He gave up 1 walk and had 1 strikeout.

"I felt good," Díaz said. "That's probably the best fastball I've had all season. I was able to locate it pretty well. They were super-aggressive, which helped me."

So far this season Díaz has a 3-3 record with a 3.26 ERA.

So far this season Martin has gotten 135 hits in 365 at-bats for a .370 batting average with 10 home runs. His stats include 56 RBIs and 61 runs scored. He has played in 102 games.
